Family accounts

A parent or carer can set up Affectly for their children. Your child learns with Ari, a friendly AI tutor, and you stay in charge of their profile.

How it works

  1. Make your own account

Sign up as yourself. You need to be 18 or over and have Affectly Premium.

  2. Add your child

Open Family from your account. Give a first name or nickname and an age range, and choose a parent PIN.

  3. Confirm by email

We send you an email. Click the link to confirm it is you. In the United States, for a child aged 10 to 12, we also ask for a quick photo ID check, because US law asks for it.

  4. Hand over the device

Tap "Start learning as" your child. When they are done, switch back with your PIN.

Good to know

  • Available in Australia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand.
  • For children aged 10 to 17. Affectly is not for children under 10.
  • Your child never needs an email address or a password.
  • You can see everything your child writes to Ari, the tutor, and you can download or delete it at any time.
  • Mood check ins and How I learn settings are off unless you switch them on.
  • If your child tells Ari about something worrying, Ari points them to a free helpline outside your family.
